Maria had a comfortable 6-2 6-3 victory over No.23 seed Kaia Kanepi of Estonia to advance to the semis of Roland Garros for the second consecutive year. The match lasted 1 hour and 14 minutes.

Kanepi had a 2-0 lead in the second set but Maria came storming back to take the next five games to lead 5-2. Maria couldn't hold her serve in the next game but broke Kanepi and won matchpoint when Kanepi hit a backhand long. Second set: 6-3 in 39 minutes.
In Thursday's semis, Maria will play either No.4 seed Petra Kvitova or Yaroslava Shvedova.
